Absences
1. Attendance
- 8 Day Absence Limit
No credit will be given for the semester if you miss more
than 8 days of school, excluding days attributable to illness
or bereavement.
2. UNEXCUSED Absence
a. ANY
absence above four (4) per quarter, REGARDLESS
of reason (except licensed health provider excused extended
illness or bereavement.)
b. Three (3) tardies to same class results in one (1) unexcused
absence.
3. EXTENDED ILLNESS
If you are sick or injured and under a doctor's care,
you will be allowed to make up your missed class work provided
the doctor sends a note verifying treatment.
4. NO CREDIT
FOR THE SEMESTER IF YOU MISS MORE THAN EIGHT (8) DAYS, REGARDLESS
OF REASON (excluding
extended illness/bereavement).
5. APPEALS
a. Parent and student must appeal IN
PERSON to the
Attendance Review Committee composed of the principal and
two certified employees.
b. Decision of the committee is FINAL.
B. Returning
to School After an Absence
1. You must bring a written note to the school office before
first period of the day following the absence. It must
be signed and dated by your parent/guardian, and must explain
the reason for the absence.
2. You will be considered TRUANT and will be unable to attend
classes if parent verification is not obtained by the third
day following the absence(s).
C. Check Out
Policy
Cimarron High
School strongly discourages parents from checking their children
out during the lunch hour. However, if it is absolutely
necessary, parents
need to sign the high school register at the check out time.
Students who leave campus without permission will be considered
truant and will be subject to disciplinary action.
D. Make-up Work
1. It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to get from your teachers all
class work missed because of an absence or a suspension, and
it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
