ferred by any staff member or parent.  The purpose of the CAST team is to assist students who are experiencing difficulty in school.  CAST meetings are regularly scheduled each week.  During the meetings, specific problems are identified and the team adopts an appropriate plan of action.  Students who continue to experience lack of success may be referred for special education screening.

Friends to Education
The Friend to Education Award is given to honor those parents, community leaders and business owners who give unselfishly of their time, moneys, and generous donations to our school and students.  Nominations are accepted from staff, student body, and community.  The award will be presented at the Academic Awards Ceremony.

Academic Honors
l. Qualifications for Superintendent's Honor Roll
Maintain a numerical grade average of 95 in all classes with no grade below a 90.  Honor Rolls are issued separately for each quarter and semester.

2. Qualifications for Principal's Honor Roll
Maintain a numerical grade average of 90 in all classes with no grade below an 85.  Honor Rolls are issued separately for each quarter and semester.

  3. National Honor Society
Cimarron High School sponsors the National Honor Society for honor students.  Membership is both an honor and a responsibility.  Students, who are sophomores or juniors, must demonstrate a cumulative scholastic grade point average of at least 90 with no grade below an 85 after seven consecutive quarters in high school.  Students meeting the requirements of the National Honor Society and the local by-laws will be inducted each spring semester.

4. Graduation Honor Students
Each year, three graduation honor students are selected:  the Superintendent's Honor Student (highest honor); the Principal's Honor Student (second highest honor); and a Faculty Honor Student (third highest honor).  The criteria for selection include academic achievement, citizenship, leadership, and attendance.  These students are honored at commencement exercises; they are selected from those graduating seniors with eight (8) semesters of high school attendance.  Seven (7) semester graduates or part-time students will not be ranked in a class ranking for these honors.
Students who accumulate at least 160 community service hours will graduate their senior year with humanitarian honors.  Hours during school or involving remuneration or retribution will not be counted.
