Transfer students are eligible on a pro-rated basis (20 hours minimum).  Family-related service hours are exempt.  Seniors intending to qualify for humanitarian honors must notify the counselor no later than May 1st of the graduating year and complete all approved hours by May 8th.

Academic Ranking
Class ranking and grade point averages for college or scholarship applications will be figured at full value at the end of sixth/seventh semesters and in special circumstances in the eighth semester.

Academic Letter
The purpose of the Academic Letter award is to recognize academic excellence in Cimarron High School.  All students enrolled in grades 9-12 are eligible to receive an Academic Letter upon completion of the following criteria:

A.  The student must have a GPA of 95 or better for each of the first three-quarters as well as the first semester and for midterm of the fourth quarter of the current year.  All grades must be at least 90.

B.  The student must be enrolled in a full academic load during the year, defined to be at least six courses from the following department: language arts, foreign  languages, mathematics, science, social studies, media center studies, vocational education, health education, and fine arts.

Students who meet the requirements for this award will receive the following recognition:
1. First year   Letter
2. Second year  Honors Bar
3. Third year  Honors Bar
4. Fourth year  Honors Bar

Letter awards will be calculated only after the middle of the fourth quarter of the current year.  The guidance counselor must verify all requirements.
